There goes the pyro, we are in the Fleetcenter in Boston, March 9, 2000 (but taped 3/7/00) and your hosts for this fine evening are none other than Jerry "The King" Lawler and Michael Cole.
Triple H along with Stephanie come out to the top of the ramp. Steph asks for our
attention, and directly after that, "No Chance In Hell" fires up and out come
Shane and the Big Show. Shane says he knows what we want him to do, and that's slap his
sister right across the face, but he says he's not going to be doing that tonight. Triple
H then predicts on what we wanna see, and that is he and the Big Show going at it, but
that won't happen tonight either. But what will happen tonight is apparently this, Show
takes the mic and refers to his match with Kane on Monday and says that he should've
chokeslammed him to Hell, but instead, tonight he'll be up against Road Dogg and X-Pac in
a handicap match. The name of the game is "Pass the Mic" and now it's Shane's
turn! Yeeha. Anyway, Shane says he has a little idea going through his head, and that is
to take care of their troubles from Rikishi by putting him in the ring in another handicap
match against Triple H and the Big Show. Shane then changes the subject to the Rock, and
makes it known that the Rock will take on Chris Benoit once again, but this time Benoit
has Perry Saturn on his side, and already we've got our third handicap match booked for
tonight. Finally, Stephanie wraps things up and says that once the Rock is done with
Benoit and Saturn she'll have a little surprise for him, a "figurative slap in the
face" she calls it and that's that.
Earlier Today: The Mean Street Posse rallies up referee Teddy Long in another attempt to get at Crash Holly and the Hardcore title. Rodney says that he's the one making the pin this time, and seemingly Pete Gas and Joey Abs agree to this, so off they go to find Crash. The Posse winds up finding Crash in a laundromat, doing of all things, his laundry! Rodney attacks first, but soon is followed by the rest of the Posse, who once again all can't decide who should make the pin. The Posse ends up fighting amongst themselves again as Crash grabs his title and hightails it on outta there. Afterwards, Rodney, Joey and Pete argue and Pete dumps some laundry detergent on Rodney before we cut to a commericial.
The Rock vs. Chris Benoit and Perry Saturn
Rock hops on the turnbuckle and grabs the stick. "Finally..." The Rock says that
Stephanie and Shane think they have all the answers, he asks 'em if they think they're
real cute throwing this handicap match at the Rock. Rock says regardless of what they do
to him, he'll just keep coming back. Rock then turns it over to Monday's cage match with
Benoit, and then insults Saturn a bit before getting in the ring. Benoit and Saturn start
off with the double team, Rock comes back with a double clothesline and then throws Saturn
over the top. Rock left with Benoit, Benoit rallies back and tags in Saturn who hits a
slam, and then Benoit sneaks back in for a side slam. Saturn takes control, drop toe hold
on the ropes, Benoit comes in and hits two German suplexes and then locks on a full
nelson, Saturn goes for a kick on the Rock, but Rock ducks it and Benoit gets a face full
of Saturn's boot. Spinebuster on Saturn, DDT for Benoit, Rock Bottom for Saturn, 1, 2 and
3. And yeah, it really did happen that quickly!
Winner: The Rock
After the match, Eddie Guerrero and Dean Malenko ran in and beat down on the Rock. Benoit hit the swandive headbutt and then we cut backstage where Steph said it was time for her to go give her surprise to the Rock.
Phone Free Dot Com Free For All: Last Monday - Stephanie smacks Shane.
Back after the commercial, and out comes Stephanie. She says that the fans we're probably dissapointed with the Rock's performance, so they probably want to see him again. So, in that case, they will, and Stephanie books another handicap match: Rock vs. Dudley Boyz in a table match. The Dudleys need only to put the Rock through one table to win, but the Rock needs to but both Buh Buh Ray and D-Von through tables if he wants to escape with a victory.
Christian (w/Edge) vs. Essa Rios (w/Lita) for the WWF Light Heavyweight
Championship
Terri came out to the match very early on. A bunch of flips, counters, reversals and stuff
to start the match. Rios to the outside where Christian hits his second rope dive to the
floor. Back in the ring, Christian with an awesome spin around powerbomb in Rios.
Christian came off the ropes and Lita grabbed his leg, and then Terri popped up on the
apron, which gave Lita enough time to hit a moonsault on Christian without the ref seeing
it. Edge came in and speared Lita, and that the ref did see and DQ'ed Christian.
Winner: Essa Rios via DQ
After the match, Lita looked a little shaken up, and left with the help of Rios. Edge and Christian again exchanged some words.
Backstage, Kurt Angle explains the Intercontinental title to some security guard who doesn't seem at all interested. Angle babbles on as we cut to a commercial.
Kurt Angle vs Tazz for the WWF Intercontinental Championship
Angle came out with a mic as usual, and insulted the Boston crowd. He said Boston is
famous for a lot of sports stars, only they become famous stars once they leave Boston. He
uses Babe Ruth, Roger Clemens and Ray Borque for examples. Tazz comes out and says he'll
show Angle some "heavy metal." Tazz in control, hits a TazzPlex and Angle rolls
outside where Tazz follows and the two trade some punches. Angle hit a nice counter coming
off the steps and then the match went back in the ring. Angle hit a suplex on Tazz and
went for another one but Tazz slipped out and locked on the TazzMission. Eventually,
frickin' Bob Backlund came in through the crowd and locked the Crossface Chickenwing on
Tazz.
Winner: Tazz via DQ
Backlund held on for a while and out came Chris Jericho who threw Angle out of the ring and then broke Backlund's hold on Tazz and locked Backlund in the Walls of Jericho, while Tazz hit Angle with a top rope TazzPlex.
Road Dogg and X-Pac (w/Tori) vs. Kane (w/Paul Bearer)
Great match here, I thought. Kane is beginning to regain that "indestructable"
persona he used to have. X-Pac and Road Dogg traded off a lot and took a lot of punches on
Kane, that the Big Red Machine didn't seem to feel. Nice tilt-a-whril backbreaker from
Kane to X-Pac. Kane heads up top, Dogg trips him up. X-Pac tags in the Dogg, Dogg with
some shots but again Kane doesn't seem to be feeling much of anything. X-Pac gives it a
shot and hits the X-Factor, but Kane sits right up! Dogg came in and Kane whipped him into
the corner where the ref got squashed. Gorilla press on X-Pac, thrown into Road Dogg,
nice! Dogg and X-Pac came back and tried a double vertical suplex, but Kane reversed it
and hit his own double vertical suplex, awesome! Kane up top, there's the flying
clothesline on X-Pac, and now a chokeslam for 'Pac. Road Dogg tried the juke-n-jive
punches, but he ends up getting a chokeslam as well. And now on the outside, Tori shoves
Paul Bearer into the ring post, and Kane grabs her by the hair and drags her into the
ring. Kane trying a Tombstone on Tori, but X-Pac makes the save with a chair to the back
of Kane, followed up with an X-Factor on the chair. The ref comes around just in time to
make the three count for X-Pac.
Winners: Road Dogg and X-Pac
A little recap from RAW: Mae Young getting powerbombed through a table by Buh Buh Ray. If I ever meet that guy I'm gonna give him a big hug for doing that!
And now, Earlier Today footage has Kevin Kelly with Mae Young, Mark Henry and Fabulous Moolah. Young is in a wheelchair. Kelly tries to get some words from Henry, but he's much too emotional about the whole ordeal and they take off.
Backstage, the Dudley Boyz discuss their upcoming match with the Rock.
Jeff Hardy (w/Matt Hardy) vs. Steve Blackman (w/Al Snow)
Before the match, Snow claims he's found Blackman's biggest fan, and Snow brings out some
kid with a cheesehead on. The kid asks for a picture, which Snow takes, as Snow is getting
the pic out of the Polaroid, Blackman smacks the poor kid in the gut. Snow and Blackman
then head out as Blackman shoves the kid on the ground. Holy crap, there were a bunch of
counters and reversals in this match to start things off. Eventually, Blackman was thrown
to the outside, Jeff followed. Blackman whipped Jeff towards the steps, Jeff jumped up on
the steps then jumped over to the barricade which was damn cool. Blackman hopped up on the
barricade and back-dropped Hardy to the floor, yow! Back in the ring, Blackman was in
control until Jeff hit that cool springboard moonsault off the top rope. Jeff then went up
for the senton bomb, but missed it because Snow pulled Blackman out of the way. Blackman
then headed up top and hit his Lethal Kick on Jeff and picked up the win.
Winner: Steve Blackman
Dudley Boyz vs. The Rock
Match starts right off on the ramp with Rock getting the upper hand. They worked their way
around the ring where Rock hit both Dudley's with the bell and then with a chair. Rock
fought with Buh Buh Ray in the crowd, D-Von tried to break that up but got back-dropped
over the barricade, as did Buh Buh Ray. Back up to the ramp, double clothesline from the
Rock, followed up by a vertical suplex on Buh Buh. Finally, in the ring, the Dudz take
over where D-Von hits the top rope headbutt to the People's Jewels. Buh Buh brought Rock
to his feet, Rock with a clothesline but D-Von is right there to give Rock a clothesline
of his own. Rock coming back now, Samoan drop on Buh Buh, spinebuster for D-Von and now
Rock sets up for the People's Elbow, but gets speared by Buh Buh Ray in the process. Buh
Buh heads out and grabs a table, a 3D attempt is reversed by the Rock, Rock Bottom on Buh
Buh Ray through the table! Rock now sets up another table and goes after D-Von, another
Rock Bottom try on D-Von, but Buh Buh breaks that up with a chairshot on the Rock, 3D on
the Rock through the table, and that's it!
Winners: Dudley Boyz
Shane, Stephanie, Show and HHH are backstage looking on and they like what they see.
During the break - the Rock refuses any medical help.
Ivory vs. Jacqueline for the WWF Women's Championship
Nothing spectacular here, Jackie kept the title with a floatover DDT on Ivory.
Winner: Jacqueline
Rock is backstage getting some medical help: "Ow dammit!"
Crash Holly vs. Prince Albert for the WWF Hardcore Championship
Crash came out but hid off to the side and caught Albert off gaurd. The two went
imediately backstage where the Prince seemed to dominate. Before long, the Posse ran in
and broke things up, Rodney took off after Crash, while Albert took Pete Gas and Joey Abs
back to the ring and took care of business with those two.
Match Result: No Contest (I guess)
Too Cool gets Rikishi pumped up for his match.
Smack of the Night: Dudley Boyz with the 3D on Rock through the table.
Triple H and Big Show (w/Shane & Stephanie) vs. Rikishi Phatu
HHH and Show do Paper, Rock, Scissors to see who goes first, HHH wins so he's in first
with the big man. Rikishi in control early as Too Cool watches from this cool oval-TV
backstage. HHH came back quick with a neckbreaker on Phatu and tagged in Show. Rikishi
tried a slam on the Big Show, but fell back and Show followed up with a knee to the chest.
Body slam from Show to Rikishi (!) and then HHH is tagged in. Hunter just plain pummels
Rikishi and Rikishi falls to the outside where Show tries to get a shot in, but Rikishi
reverses a whip and Show goes into the barricade. Back in the ring, knee to the face from
H, cover for 2. Show in, headbutt, a chop, an elbow, head to the turnbuckle, body splash,
a whip and clothesline. Backstage Too Cool decides they ought to come out to help Rikishi,
but get cut off by X-Pac and Road Dogg. Show still in control, HHH tagged in. Triple H and
Show now arguing and Show shoves Triple H! H tries to stay calm and shakes Show's hand,
but then slugs him in the face. Show and HHH now fight between each other and Rikishi pops
back up with a superkick to HHH and then a big ass splash for both of 'em. A belly to
belly suplex for HHH, a Samoan drop on Big Show and there's the butt smoosh in Triple H's
face....yeeewww! And now Shane is in there with a chair to the back on Rikishi, who shrugs
it off, but gets hit from behind by the Big Show. Chokeslam for Phatu, a Pedigree, 1, 2,
3.
Winners: Triple H and Big Show
HHH now keeps on Rikishi with that chair, and "If ya smell..." here's the Rock, with a lead pipe to Show's head and then a shot for Triple H inside the ring. Shane gets in there and gets the pipe and slams Rock in his injured ribs and the Triple H takes it and wails away on Rock and then Rikishi. Finally, after all is said and done, HHH's music starts up and he, along with Steph, Shane and Show all head back, while the Rock sets a glare on the four of them as the show ends.
