Hardcore Title Match
"Screamin" Norman Smiley d. The Wall
Norman came to the ring in full kickboxing gear, including shin and forearm guards and headgear. As The Wall was entering the ring, Berlyn came out to join Mike Tenay and Larry Zbyszko at the commentating table. The former bodyguard took "Screamin" Norman apart piece by piece, looking to pick up his first WCW gold. The Wall went for a choke slam on Norman, but as Berlyn, who had come onto the ring apron, swung the Hardcore Title, he hit The Wall by "accident." Norman got the win as Wall fell backwards with Smiley on top of him, with his hand still firmly around Norman's neck.

The Total Package was shown in the production truck demanding to see the opening of the show again. Tenay and Zbyszko had stated that he was facing Sid Vicious later in the night.

Silver King told Dr. Death that he wanted his check back from Nitro a couple weeks ago. Oklahoma and Doc told Silver King that Williams would face him and his partners in a handicapped match later in the night for the check.

Interview: Kaz Hayashi
As Mean Gene talked to Kaz, Hayashi spoke, but an overdubbed voice came over the airwaves, calling himself the "Kazmaster."

Kaz Hayashi d. The Maestro
The Maestro went to work on Hayashi from the beginning. David Flair came to the ringside area, crowbar in hand, holding his head and talking to the bar. With the referee knocked down, Flair entered the ring and clobbered Hayashi with the crowbar as Maestro headed for higher ground. Referee Billy Silverman woke up and counted The Maestro out of the ring.

Disco Inferno and Lash Leroux were shown pulling into the parking garage. As they entered the building, Johnny the Bull and Big Vito pulled up beside their car, and followed them in.

Chavo was walking down the hallway backstage, talking on his cellphone to one of his "valued customers."

The Total Package attempted to leave the arena, but Terry Taylor told Package that he would hold his bag for him. Package complied and rounded the corner to get his real bag from Jimmy Hart. As Package went to his car however, he found the tires flat, stranding him at the building.

Buzzkill d. Chavo Guerrero, Jr.
Chavo had a briefcase full of goodies for Buzzkill to try. Incense, tie-dye shirts, and a spinning colored lamp. As Buzzkill was looking at the merchandise, Chavo rolled him up for a near fall. As they got to their feet, Chavo tried to sell one of the shirts to the referee Mark Johnson. Buzzkill grabbed the briefcase and hit Guerrero across the back, gaining the 1-2-3 count victory. After the match, Buzzkill bummed money off the referee to buy the lamp.

Interview: Chris Benoit
Benoit told Mean Gene that he and Jushin "Thunder" Liger were no strangers to one another. They would meet tonight and wrestle in another epic battle.

As Meng was shown entering his dressing room, Disco and Leroux came around the corner and switched the sign on the door; the sign stating it was their dressing room.

In the back, Evan Karagias asked Madusa if he would be getting his surprise for giving her the title shot at Starrcade. She told him not to worry.

Nitro Flashback - A video package airs, showcasing the happenings from the past few weeks on Nitro.

Package was in the dressing room trying to psych himself up for his match against Sid Vicious.

Interview: Sid Vicious
Sid said at Starrcade he would powerbomb Kevin Nash straight to hell. He then tore apart a Total Package action figure, saying it was going to be the real Total Package in their match later in the night.

Total Package was shown terrified, calling a cab to pick him up from the arena.

Oklahoma and Dr. Death made their way down the back hall on their way to the ring.

Johnny the Bull and Big Vito roughed up two security guards as they were looking for Disco and Lash.

Dr. Death Steve Williams with Oklahoma d. The Villanos and Silver King As Oklahoma joined the announcers at the table, Zbyszko left the position, wanting no part of it. Williams destroyed the luchador trio in the ring as Vampiro jumped the railing and threw Oklahoma across the floor, taking his cowboy hat. As Dr. Death finished off The Villanos in the ring, Silver King snatched his check from the ringside table and ran to the back.

In the back, Total Package was shown heading for his cab, but was stopped by Vito and Johnny. He told them where to find Disco and Lash, but as he did, Silver King ran by and stole his cab, leaving Package behind, still stuck at the arena.

Benoit and Liger were shown walking to the ring.

Johnny the Bull and Vito were seen outside the door of "Leroux and Disco's" dressing room.

Jushin "Thunder" Liger vs. Chris Benoit
Before the match, Juventud Guerrera joined the broadcast team, with Psychosis and La Parka behind him. Juvi would be locked up forever if there were a law for stealing catch phrases. Benoit and Liger, who know each other very well, went back and forth, with neither man gaining an advantage. It was counter after counter until Liger stopped Benoit in his tracks with a devastating blow. As Benoit went to the floor, Liger dove from the top rope with a flying bodypress. In the ring, Liger delivered a brainbuster and got a close two count on The Crippler. As Jushin missed the enzuguri kick, Benoit took over on his Japanese opponent. The Crippler laid in some heavy knife-edge chops in the corner. As he headed to the top, he was stopped and superplexed off the top rope. La Parka and Psychosis charged the ring and attacked Liger, with Benoit coming to his aid. They fought off the luchadors as the match ended in a no contest.

Interview: Buff Bagwell
Bagwell told Gene that he was Buff and the stuff and that he would be the man to finally take out Meng in their match later.

In the back, Johnny the Bull and Big Vito charged the dressing room looking for Lash and Disco, but were met with a malicious Meng attack instead.

The Total Package made a call to Terry Taylor on his cellphone, pretending to be "Dr. Lipschitz" from the hospital. He asked for Lex Luger, saying his father was ill. Taylor came around the corner and told Package that he was still wrestling Sid later on.

Meng d. Buff Bagwell
Buff tried a couple times to knock Meng off his feet with clothesline after clothesline to no avail, but finally got him down with a series of dropkicks. Meng took over on Buff, beating him all around the ring. Big Vito and Johnny the Bull headed into the ring and attacked Bagwell and Meng. As Meng fought them off, Bagwell went to the second rope, setting up for the Blockbuster. As he flew from the rope, he caught Vito instead. Meng applied the Tongan Death Grip and got the pinfall victory.

Interview: Jeff Jarrett and Mona
Mona told Gene to look at her FACE when he was talking to her. She said she was sick of playing Miss Nice and would show the powers that be what she was made of. Jarrett asked "Miss Slappy" if she was done talking and told her to get out. He told Gene that he has a hit list: Bill Goldberg, Dustin Rhodes, and if Gene didn't watch himself, he would find out who else.

Johnny and Vito were in the back, holding their ribs, in pain from the attack at the hands of Meng.

Evan Karagias and Madusa d. Jeff Jarrett and Mona
Mike Tenay said that he has a meeting with the powers that be tomorrow morning to discuss a suspension for Jarrett after the attack on Tenay this past Monday. Karagias started out against Mona, but Madusa was quickly tagged in. Jarrett refused to take to the apron and participate. As Madusa held Mona in an armbar submission hold, Jarrett sat on the ringsteps with his back turned to the ring. Mona delivered a huricanrana to Karagias off the top rope, but Madusa caught her with a German suplex as she got up. Karagias went to the top again and this time came down with a corkscrew splash for the win. After the match, Mona dropkicked Jarrett for not helping her, but was treated to a guitar across the head for her troubles.

A clip was shown of Bret Hart's career in WCW from his arrival to his victory at Mayhem when he won the WCW Title.

Interview: The Revolution
Gene asked them about their defection from America and their creation of their very own nation. Perry Saturn said that in their country, happy hour was from noon till midnight and Christmas came twice a year. Malenko and Douglas asked him what he was talking about.

As Sid was shown working out for his match, Package was talking to the powers that be on the cellphone, who told him that he would get a title shot on Nitro if he defeated Vicious.

Interview: Disco Inferno and Lash Leroux Lash and Disco said that they respect each other and that they would watch each other's backs in the ring. Disco told Lash not to do the Bourbon Street Blues because dancing was his gimmick.

The Revolution d. Lash Leroux and Disco Inferno
The Revolution insulted Lash and Disco's heritage with Douglas telling Inferno that his "people" were all the same. This prompted Vito and Johnny to come out as they took exception to the comments. Vito and Johnny charged the ring and attacked The Revolution until Asya gave them a pair of low blows. Malenko and Saturn sent Vito and The Bull to the floor where they were met with WCW security and the police force. Disco and Leroux hit the ring and the match was underway. During the bout, Douglas got up from the broadcast table where he had joined the announcers earlier and clocked Lash from behind with the cast. Shane rolled Leroux in to the ring where Malenko finished him off with the Texas Cloverleaf for the win.

The Total Package d. Sid Vicious
Bret Hart served as the special commentator for the match. In this bout ordered by the powers that be, Package looked nothing but confident after finding out that a WCW Title match was riding on it. Referee Charles Robinson found a spray bottle sticking out of Package's trunks at the beginning. Sid went after Luger from the start. As Luger hit a low blow on Sid, Elizabeth made her way to the ringside area. As she attempted to spray Luger in the eyes with something, Package took it from her and used it on Sid. Blinded, Vicious grabbed Charles Robinson and gave him a powerbomb. Package rolled up Sid from behind and referee Mark Johnson ran in to make the three count. After the bout, Sid gave Luger a powerbomb in the center of the ring.
